All Smiles

Well, there are a lot of pictures in this series, but honestly, how could I choose?! He kills me! He just could not be any cuter. And the dimples...sigh. It makes me want to squeeze him right now!

2 Months Old

Dane had his 2 month old check up on March 20th, combined with his second meningitis follow up appointment. The doctor was very pleased with how well Dane looked. He is completely healthy now and is such a sweet baby. The doctor talked again about how scary meningitis is and that he is so happy that Dane is doing so great. I think I have a little Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...on a very small level. Some times I will be driving around town, or at home and out of nowhere it will hit me how sad and scary that all was and I'll get a sense of panic and teary-eyed. But then I always tell myself that he's okay, that it could have been so so much worse, and I just need to get over it. We had ward conference last week, our first Sunday back since Dane got sick, and our stake president told the story of how his grandpa got bacterial meningitis and was in the hospital for months and completely and permanently lost his short term memory as a result and couldn't work afterwards, etc. I sat and listened and got that teary-eyed and panicked feeling. Again...it could have been so so much worse for Dane. But he is fine. He is more than fine!!

Dane weighed in at 12 pounds 1.5 ounces, which puts him in the 50th percentile for weight. He measured 22 1/2 inches, which puts him in the 50th percentile for height.

Dane got s few shots and an oral vaccination. One of the vaccinations was for bacterial meningitis...so I don't need to worry about that anymore! Again, Dane didn't cry for the shots. He just whimpered a tiny bit and then that was it. He's so brave! He was a little cranky and feverish for the rest of the day, but not too bad.

Dane is starting to smile so much and it's adorable. His dimples kill me. He is also cooing in response to me and Al talking to him. We have been putting him on his tummy more and he doesn't mind it at all and lifts his head up so well. And his sleeping has gotten really good! He sort of has a bed time now, around 9, then will wake up around 3 and then again for the day at 7. He is popular with strangers...which is good and bad. They are drawn in by his hair. I like the attention, but I am leery of germs. Dane is still such a good and sweet baby. He is very content. The only thing that really bothers him is an upset tummy. He definitely struggles with that and it usually seems to bother him the most at night.
